Fresh New Beginning
A Young Muslimah contacted Act of Goodwill, Inc from San Francisco through Facebook while seeking help from various Muslim and Non-Muslim Organizations. She was unable to attain help from any Muslim organizations which led her to spend over a year in Shelter without any privacy. This is a glimpse of her story: She was married to her husband in 2013, in Pakistan, she then came into the United States and started to live with her husband in California.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t aware that her husband was in a relationship prior to the marriage, and he was still dating his girlfriend even after getting married. Furthermore, her husband kept her on a lock down and did not allow for her to continue her education, get a job or go outside of the house. Although she did live with her in-laws, they did not help her with the situation, instead told her to deal with it.
She does not have any family in the country and was stuck in this dilemma. After years of being a victim of Domestic Violence, one night when her husband returned home drunk from meeting his girlfriend, the situation escalated to a point in which she fled the house. She had no one to go to, and no one to talk to. The next day when her husband went to work, she reported the incident to the local authorities (all documented).
Since then she has been living in the shelter because the few Mosque she contacted never responded to her and the Islamic Center that did responded advised her to get help from Government as they won’t be able to help her. She was able to contact her family back home in Pakistan and they are in no means to help her at all due to them coming from a very poor family.
Unable to get any assistance from Various Local Muslim Institutions, she was stuck in Shelter. When she contacted us through Facebook, we flew her to New York City, she is staying in Brooklyn, NY. We are supporting her; however, we do not have the funds to help her “Get back on her Feet”. We need your Support to make sure this Young Muslim Girl is given a chance to live life without ever being depended on anyone.
Why it Matters
Your donations will provide Her a means to get back on her feet. She won’t need to BEG for support from anyone. Funds will go towards providing HER a safe Place to stay (1 room costing $750), groceries and transportation cost while they study and become SELF SUFFICIENT. Most Importantly she will get enrolled in a Vocational Education which is 8 to 12 months long depending on what they decide to pick. The Course will cost $7,500 to $9,500 … Please Donate Generously!
